Pimp at Ottawa 07 #1
Hey kids,
So the Pimp publishers asked me to do a sort of daily blog from this year’s Ottawa International Animation Festival.
It’s Saturday, Sept 15. I’m at home with a stuffy nose, remnants of the flu, taking care of young Harry. I feel like crap. The Festival is a weird space for me. My ‘festival’ time is May-July when I’m doing selection. Then things really quiet down for me until festival time when I ‘appear’ and do media interviews, become the ‘face’ of the fest. etc. So I stroll in real casual while the rest of the staff are in crazy mode. These days Kelly (wife/Managing Director) doesnt come home till 11-12 at night.
Anyway, yeah, today. Kelly and Jarvis (eldest son, age 9) have headed to the office to do the delegate bag stuffing with the volunteers. Me? I’m gonna take the vomiting dog to the vet and see what’s up with her. Then I suspect Harry and I will bus it to the office to see what’s going on.
I watched Spidey 3 last night with the kids. Enjoyed it. Nice theme about taking responsibility for your life and choices. PEter could easily have been bad but CHOOSE in the end to be good. I think that’s an important theme. We all have good and evil within us. We make the choice to go one route or the other.
That’s about it. I’m glad I’m sick now. Usually it happens during/after the festival. I aint got time to be sick. Got stuff to do.
